The Plastics Inventor is a Donald Duck short released 1 September 1944.
Donald Duck is listening to a radio program that tells how to build an airplane from plastic. He follows the instructions and makes his own lightweight plane. When he takes it out for a test flight, still guided by the radio, it flies beautifully. However, the program soon reveals a fatal flaw, the plastic melts if it gets wet. Donald inadvertently flies into a rain cloud, and struggles with his plane as it disintegrates.
